The cultural heritage of Abu Dhabi
The first impression of the island city of Abu Dhabi, whether
viewed from the air on approach to the international airport,
or driving along the impeccably maintained Corniche, is of a
thoroughly modern Arabic city, with gleaming skyscrapers and
beautifully landscaped gardens. But behind this modern facade
of city life stand the traditions and rich heritage of its past, which
act as the foundation and bedrock of the emirate and steadfastly
forms its path into the future.
For the capital city of the UAE, much has changed from the hard
nomadic existence of the Bedouins once populating this land to
the comfortable affluence of today. An ever constant though is
the generosity of spirit embodied by the people. It flows through
the blood of every citizen of Abu Dhabi to this day, and enables us
to hold dear that traditional Bedouin promise: Travelers Welcome.
