Al Ain City
Known as the “Garden City” of the UAE, Al Ain is the second largest
city of the Emirate right after Abu Dhabi. Al Ain offers a complete
change of pace from the capital, yet is only a 2 hours’ drive away.
The relaxed ambiance, green landscapes, a palm tree oasis,
leisure attractions and rich heritage have made Al Ain a popular
weekend destination for visitors and local families alike.
Big Bus Tours
See Abu Dhabi as never before from the top of an open top double-
decker bus, viewing the major sights including the Corniche,
Emirates Palace, Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Al Hosn Fort and the
souks and malls of the city. Hop-on and off as much as you wish
to explore Abu Dhabi at your leisure. Your ticket includes 24-
hour unlimited use during operating hours, free bottled water,
multi lingual commentary, complimentary headphones and free
entrance to the Sky Tower at Marina Mall.
Camel Racing
This is a spectacular sport, a trip to the races can be one of the
most memorable highlights of a visit to Abu Dhabi. Cheer on the
camels as they gallop around a specially made track, and marvel
at how these seemingly ungraceful creatures can reach such high
speeds. For a taste of this sport, head to the Al Wathba Camel
Race Track 45km East of Abu Dhabi on the Al Ain road.
Desert Safari
Perhaps the must-do tour in the UAE, the desert safari is an
action packed adventure that starts with a gentle dune drive in a
professionally driven 4x4 en route to an Arabic themed bedouin
camp nestled in the beautiful Abu Dhabi desert. Try camel riding,
sand boarding and the ancient art of Henna. You will be served
a delicious barbecue dinner and enjoy entertainment including
shisha and belly dancing. Keep a momento of the evening by
having your photo taken in a traditional Arabic dress. Find more
information on “Hala’s Sunset Desert Drive & BBQ” on page 75, an
overnight option including breakfast is also available.
